To jail stepfather and grandfather who sexually abused two girls of 11 and 6 years old in La Zurza

Santo Domingo.- The Third Collegiate Court will sentence a grandfather and stepfather of two girls of 11 and 6 years to 20 years in prison, after proving the accusation presented against them for committing incest to the detriment of minors, in an act occurred in the La Zurza sector.

The file filed by the National District Prosecutor's Office narrates that both convicts, whose names are omitted to preserve the identity of the girls, sexually raped the girl under 11 years old, between the months of April and June of the year 2018.

She explains that the stepfather took advantage when the mother of the victims was not at home to commit the horrendous act against the 11-year-old girl, a crime that she carried out on several occasions.

Likewise, the grandfather surprised her granddaughter while she was in her kitchen, where he sexually abused her, according to what the litigating prosecutor Andrijal Pimentel stated in a hearing.

Prior to the unfortunate events described above, in 2017, the grandfather of both girls sexually assaulted the 6-year-old infant, touching her intimate parts.

The incestuous acts of which the girls were victims were discovered by their father and his wife, after the girls were questioned by their stepmother and an aunt, to whom they told what had happened.

After discovering these atrocious events, they informed the mother of the minors, and then filed a formal complaint with the authorities.

The Public Ministry classified the conduct of the accused with the criminal type of incest, a crime foreseen and sanctioned in articles 332-1 and 332-2 of the Dominican Penal Code and article 396 literal B and C of the Code for Protection and Rights Fundamentals of Boys, Girls and Adolescents (Law 136-06).

The judges of the Third Collegiate Court Arlin Ventura, Milagros Ramírez and Leticia Martínez, ordered that the defendants each serve the sentence of 20 years of imprisonment in the La Victoria National Penitentiary.
