La Zurza families request relocation

SANTO DOMINGO.-Burdened by the unhealthiness and helplessness they have felt for 14 years, when they abandoned their spaces on the banks of the Isabela River to make way for the work of the Santo Domingo Metro, 107 families from La Zurza yesterday demanded their relocation to a decent home.

The La Zurza Development Management Committee denounced that of the 176 families registered on that occasion, only 81 received an apartment, 50 were provisionally located in the same number of houses, today in complete deterioration on the river bank and the rest he wanders among relatives and friends with a promise letter in hand.

Victor Portorreal Portalatín, spokesman for the Committee, called on President Danilo Medina, on behalf of those affected, to instruct the director of the Office for the Reordering of Transportation, Manuel Antonio Saleta García, to conclude with the relocation plan of the families.

"We ask the transfer of the census to the director of Invi, Mayobanex Escoto, to put an end to the hardships and these people who live in these common barracks achieve a dignified life," he said.
