Community Leaders From La Zurza Join The Isabela River Sanitation

The residents of this community will have the mission of coordinating the work and preventing the construction of more latrines in this town.

Santo Domingo.- A score of community, religious and business leaders from the La Zurza sector will be part of the work table of the Project "Pumping Line for Sanitary Sewer Interceptors of the La Zurza subsystem", which will collect the wastewater that is discharged into the river Isabela in that sector.

The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd) today swore in the members of the table that they will be responsible for expediting and coordinating the work and preventing the construction of more latrines, the institution reported in a statement.

The director of the Caasd, Alejandro Montás, explained that the intention of creating this work table, which will be coordinated by the priest Joselito Beltré of the Parish of La Zurza, is to guide the citizens of the benefits of the project and monitor that the works are carried out according to the schedule approved by its members.

"We have created this work table to integrate all the sectors that the project will benefit and to meet to discuss the problems and solutions that arise in the development of the work, and so that the hiring of workers who are employed is required. the same residents in the intervened areas, "explained Montás.

The official said that the project will improve the drinking water service in 37 neighborhoods and will definitively solve the wastewater problem of 450,000 residents of the National District and Santo Domingo Norte.

Household connections will be built in each of the houses that to date use latrines for their physiological needs, which seep into the subsoil and contaminate the water table and the Isabela River.

Among the sectors benefited, the director of the CAASD mentioned La Zurza, Capotillo, Ensanche Luperón, Ensanche Espaillat, La Fe, Villa Juana, Villas Agrícolas, Villa Consuelo and Guaricanos.
