Carolina Mejía inaugurates a park in La Zurza and reaffirms commitment that in its management that people live better
Santo Domingo. Dominican Republic. The mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía inaugurated La Zurza Park, the first work that she delivers in the management of it, and she proclaimed it is the beginning of many that will be built in the different sectors of the three districts.
La Zurza Park represents an extraordinary recreational value for children in the sector, which now has a safe space for dispersal.
The park has a construction area of 926 square meters of interior and exterior sidewalks; 252 linear meters of containers. In addition, it has urban furniture with benches and recycled plastic baskets and concrete trash cans.
Also, it is equipped with a children's area with swings, and goes up and down; green area in trees and grasses and illuminated with galvanized steel poles and LED lamps.
La Zurza Park was started on January 27 by former mayor David Collado, after its construction was approved on August 29 of last year.
When directing the words of order of the act, the mayor Mejía exhorted the community to take care of this park, because it is not a work of the council, but a new space for the residents of La Zurza.
She observed with great concern that people throw plastic, bottles, covers and other waste into the streets that damage the environment.
The official recalled that the council, neighborhood councils and community members are not solely responsible for keeping the city clean, but that dumping and solid waste are a commitment of society as a whole.
“We must all make a commitment so that people live better, that they have better access to the services that we are obliged to provide, that we all value the effort we make, but above all that we take care of it, this park is to be enjoyed, but You have to take care of it, there is no need to throw garbage on the floor, because it is a place for our children to play, ”said Mayor Carolina Mejía amid the applause of those present.
The mayor was accompanied by the deputy mayor, Stalin Alcántara, the General Secretary of the council, Hugo Beras and the departmental directors.
