CAASD is working on the placement of pumping equipment for the La Zurza sector and other important works


Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD) carries out works for the supply and placement of the pumping equipment for the populous La Zurza sector and other important works for the benefit of the residents of Greater Santo Domingo.

The general director of the CAASD, architect Alejandro Montás, explained that the objective of this phase is to replace the existing pumping equipment, currently deteriorated and with great difficulties in its operation, which will be gradually replaced in order not to affect the supply of drinking water from La Zurza.

“This week we continue the work on this work with the installation of the pumping equipment. We have advanced in the construction of the perimeter fence to the shed, giving the details of the completion of columns and beams, we built the concrete bases to support the transformers and we hoisted two 40-foot long Beech poles, among other advances that have This phase has been placed at 60% completion ”, he explained.

The CAASD also makes great efforts to supply drinking water to a population of 9,000 inhabitants of the Villa Felicia Project, Mella highway, and thus improve their quality of life.

In this sense, Corporation personnel work in the potable water distribution network in the aforementioned project, located on the Mella highway, Santo Domingo Este.

"To date we have placed 1,453,085 linear meters of six-inch diameter pipes, among other works that have led to 92.50% completion of this project, which is partially providing potable water service," said the director of the CAASD.

Regarding the provision of hydrants in the city, he said that this week work continued with the installation of a hydrant on the La Isabela highway, in front of the Pantoja fire station. To date, the 19 planned hydrants have been placed on Gregorio Luperón avenue, between John F. Kennedy and Independencia avenues, a phase of this work that is 98% complete.

The objective of these works is to provide a water intake designed to provide a considerable flow in the event of fires, whose source of supply is the existing urban network, located along the entire route of Luperón Avenue.

Likewise, CAASD makes connections and places pipes to serve drinking water to Proyecto, Santa Rita and Los Reyes streets, Mandinga sector, Santo Domingo Este municipality. This phase is 60% completed.

Regarding the works in the Mirador del Oeste residential area, he said that this project is 97% complete.

“The objective of this project is to increase the available drinking water flow, for a population of 2,330 inhabitants of the Mirador del Oeste residential area, and thus also reinforce the service in the neighboring sectors such as El Café de Herrera, Doly street, Kilometer 12, between others ”, he specified.

Finally, he said that the potable water distribution network in the La Ureña neighborhood, at kilometer 19 of the Las Américas highway, in Santo Domingo Este, is 66% complete.
